Its my friend 40th birthday and she has chosen to go to The Herb House, we were a party of 3 on a Monday night booking well in advance and we were all in well in need of a pamper as the whole booking process was hard work, after finally sorting out any difficulties, we were sent our itineries, which stated a strict arrival time.

I’m glad we persevered with the booking as it was a fantastic day and well worth all the previous hassle. On arrival the staff were welcoming, friendly and very flexible as we had arrived ridiculously early! The setting is great, you can wander round the grounds, take a short cut onto the 'forest ramble' sit inside or out with a drink, and despite wearing our trackies, we were welcomed to look around the hotel. The place is elegant and stylish, yet modern - the perfect place for ladies that 'do lunch'.

The Herb House spa is tranquil, clean light and airy, with a warm welcoming atmosphere the facilities are great! There's even a bath in the changing rooms! First off we tried the hydrotherapy pool - a little cooler than expected! We then swam a few lengths in the lap pool, went into the sauna which has a beautiful large window over looking the forest, a pleasant change to being in a wooden box, then onto the steam room which was a little short on steam, but pleasant all the same. Finally our favourite - the outside Jacuzzi pool under the stars, we stayed in here til we resembled prunes and the only thing missing was a  glass of champagne!

The sundown package is great value at £75 for 30 mins treatment or £95 for 60 mins treatment, which includes use of the facilities from 17.00-21.00 and a platter in the Raw and Cured.
