The run up to the Christmas period is a busy time for your salon, people will try new treatments and treat themselves to ensure they look their best for the party season. Make use of the following ideas to make the most of this time and attract new clients to try your salon and not the salon down the road.

Sell packages of treatments e.g. foot treatment with pedicure, eyelashes with eye brows, hair styled and make up application etc. Combine a couple of treatments and offer at a discounted rate.

 Ensure your special Christmas packages are advertised well by making use of the following:

·       Email to your existing client database

·       Advertise using radio, signage, poster in the window, leaflets etc.

·       Use social media and place details on website, Facebook, Twitter etc.

Increase the visibility of your vouchers, use posters and display your vouchers in the reception area and talk to your clients to ensure they know they can purchase vouchers as gifts. Be sure to offer gift vouchers with monetary values and treatments.

Offer mini treats e.g. decorate your Christmas tree with baubles that include mini nail/face/body treats or vouchers, keep the value of these low e.g. £5 or £10. These are great stocking fillers and are quick and easy for clients to pick up on their way out of the salon.

Make up gift baskets to be displayed in your reception area and offer a free gift wrapping service, great for capturing the panic purchase when the husband does not know what to buy his wife etc. and where possible include a voucher for a treatment or discount off their first treatment alongside a product e.g. mini pedicure with mini nail varnishes etc. This could encourage new clients to visit your salon.

Get your staff and clients in the Christmas spirit buy offering a complimentary Christmas drink e.g. Baileys, mulled wine (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), Christmas biscuits (ginger bread man) or mince pies. Make sure you decorate your salon with Christmas decorations and a Christmas tree and put the Christmas music CD on (I like a bit of Buble).

Revisit your opening hours for the Christmas period, think about opening more evenings, so new clients can visit after work, before their party etc. Maybe offer your discounts and package treatments on your quieter days e.g. 10% on a Monday.
