Winter can be a testing time for the best of us. The wind, rain, cold and shorter days can really take a toll on people’s mood and appearance. The cold can tighten up your skin, the wind can buffet your hair, the lack of sun can cause your tan to fade, and by March you are likely to be feeling well and truly fed up with it all.

But don’t be disheartened, as now is the time people will be thinking about recovering from those harsh winter months! People will be booking holidays, thinking about what clothes to buy for the spring and summer, and the excitement of those sunnier months will once again be building.

As an owner of a beauty salon, you should be fully prepared for these customers, ensuring that you offer all the services that your clientele will be looking for as they look to recover and rejuvenate themselves as we move out of the winter and into the spring.

Bear in mind that it’s not just about looks, but the way your customers feel as well! Many customers will be looking for a good pampering. Massages are an excellent way to ease the tension built up over the trying winter months, so ensure that you have sufficient equipment, supplies and expertise to offer your clients massage treatments.

Many of your customers will be looking for a new-look to add to that spring feel good factor, and the most popular way of doing this is getting a new hair-cut, new hair colour or a new hair style. Whether you are a hairdressers or a beauty salon that offers hair salon services, be prepared for your customers looking for the most in-season, trendy styles. Ensure that you have all the necessary barber and hairdressing chairs to accommodate for your clients, as well as all the most up-to-date supplies to offer the best possible service.

While the spring and summer are coming soon, there might not quite be enough sun out just yet to be getting a proper tan! Many customers will be looking tanning services to keep themselves bronzed and beautiful before they hit the beaches. Ensure that you have all the tanning equipment required, including your spray gun, tanning solutions and pop-up tanning tent, especially if you are a mobile beauty therapist.

Waxing is also a very popular service in the run up to the spring and summer, and is a relatively inexpensive service for you to offer, as it requires few consumables. Wax heaters and wax strips should be in ample supply in your salon to make sure that you do not run out and prevent yourself from offering this service.

Your customers will have likely been coming to your salon for manicures and pedicures throughout the winter too, but like massages, clients will want the finishing touches to their winter recovery in the build up the sunnier months by getting manicures and pedicures at your salon. Manicure tables and necessary consumables such as files and nailbrushes should be at hand so you can offer these services to your clients.
